The department's biannual retreat was held at Unicoi State Park near Helen, Georgia, this year. A total of 88 faculty, graduate students, and research staff attended and participated in poster and oral presentations.

The 2024 Sisodia-Patel Prize for Outstanding Research by an Undergraduate in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Graduation was awarded to Grace Watterson, who also minored in Statistics.

Natalie Krahn, assistant professor in biochemistry and molecular biology, had her original artwork featured on the cover of the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).

Joshua Weiss, first year graduate student in the Krahn lab in biochemistry and molecular biology, received a $1,000 grant for outreach in the community.
