A study detailing the structure of MBH, a molecular complex involved in microbial respiration, has revealed similarities to the structure's counterpart in humans, known as Complex 1.

Associate professor Hang Yin of the University of Georgia's department of biochemistry and molecular biology had a study he helped author, “Transient HIF2A inhibition promotes satellite cell proliferation and muscle regeneration,” featured by UGA Today.

The University of Georgia's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology's Debra Mohnen was appointed to the Georgia Athletic Association Professorship in Complex Carbohydrate Research by the Board of Regents effective April 18, 2018.

University of Georgia junior Laurel Hiatt was named a 2018 Truman Scholar. One of 59 students in the nation given the honor, Hiatt will receive a $30,000 scholarship toward graduate school.

The University of Georgia's Biochemistry Undergraduate Society held its Spring Symposium on April 20, 2018, allowing students to present a poster or deliver an oral presentation to professors, graduate students and peers.
