
Dr. Walter Schmidt, professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, was one of three university faculty honored with a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professorship. It is the university's highest honor for sustained excellence in teaching.
For 23 years, Dr. Schmidt has worked to build self-confidence in students as they navigate complex content in biochemistry and molecular biology courses. His impact reaches far beyond his own classroom, as he is a strong advocate for experiential learning and has been an exceptional mentor to undergraduate and graduate students.
